Gindling Hilltop Camp Dining Hall Campaign
The calls and letters went out with a call for help—and the phone calls and pledges came flooding in immediately. An outpouring of support and concern from the camp community in response to The Hilltop Heartbeat Campaign has brought us very close to our $300,000 goal!
The response has been overwhelming. Campers and staff from decades past to the present called to express their concern, learn the details and find out how else they could help. The support has been heartwarming and has shown that although our campers and staff may no longer attend camp each summer, their hearts are still with the camp community.
Next >>Through Camp, we create memories and build connections not only to each other but to the place itself. For some, participating in the campaign is a meaningful way to acknowledge those personal connections. We all know that camp friendships are like no others.
One Camp Alumni related how years ago when he was camper and his family made a difficult move to a new location, his connection with his friend Danny, whom he met at Hilltop eased the transition. Years later, Danny passed away and now that camper is making a gift to the Hilltop Campaign in honor of Danny. What a fitting way to pay tribute his friend’s memory!
Our Campaign thus far has raised a significant proportion of the funds needed to restore the landmark Dining Hall but we still need your help. Thanks to the Alumni, Campers, Staff, Parents, Grandparents, we have raised $260,000, or over 85% of our goal! But we still need help to raise the remaining $40,000. We are asking for everyone’s support.
<< Previous Next >>Current campers have even given their own money to join in the effort. It is critical that we are able to rebuild that majestic building with its expansive view of the Pacific Ocean. It is just as critical that the facility be modernized to meet the needs of the campers who will pass through its doors, meeting new friends, deepening existing friendships, learning about themselves and their Judaism.
Please join us and make a personally meaningful gift to rebuild this landmark building and facility at Gindling Hilltop Camp. We can only do this together.
Becca Sills, former Associate Director of Wilshire Boulevard Temple Camps, is the Development Associate staffing the campaign. To make a gift, please call Becca at 213.388.2401 x502, e-mail her at bsills@wbtla.org, or download the pledge form below and send it with payment to Hilltop Heartbeat—3663Wilshire Boulevard Los Angeles, CA 90010.
