Learning to Lead

Bring your heart, your hustle, and your best camp smile. The Counselor-in-Training program turns rising leaders into role models who know how to care for campers and keep the fun rolling.

Learn the ropes, find your voice, and make every day matter, for you and your campers.

Who Can Apply

Juniors in high school are eligible to apply for our six-week CIT program. The experience runs concurrently at Camp Hess Kramer and Gindling Hilltop Camp, and participation for the full program is expected.

Selection is competitive and considers a completed application, a personal interview, your history at camp, and letters of recommendation.

At first, the idea of transitioning from a camper to counselor seemed frightening, but my time as a CIT prepared me with the skills I needed to be a counselor, to be myself, and to lead.”
Noah, Age 18
