Specialty Camp Programs

Yahm Surf

Campers will spend mornings at surf school provided by SoCal Surf Lessons, just two miles down the beach from camp (campers will be driven to and from their lessons). They will return to camp for lunch and then spend their afternoons integrated into the rest of camp, choosing electives, enjoying free choice and participating in our evening programming. On Shabbat, campers will spend the day at camp with the rest of the camp community. Campers only need to bring towels, bathing suits and a water bottle.  Wetsuits and boards provided by SoCal Surf Lessons.

Why SoCal Surf?

  • The only surf school in Carlsbad that’s Licensed, Bonded, Insured. 17 years in business
  • The best instructors and the most friendly wave in San Diego!
  • They teach to each person’s skill level.
  • They don’t teach you on the whitewash (unless conditions favor it), they teach you how to ride the face of the wave.
  • They provide top-of-the-line wetsuits and surfboards.

Yahm SCUBA

Campers will spend mornings at SCUBA school provided by North County SCUBA Center.  One day of pool work, one day of class work, and two days down at La Jolla shores which will include 4 ocean dives, followed by a special outing to learn more about ocean life.  Campers will return to camp for lunch and then spend their afternoons integrated into the rest of camp, choosing electives, enjoying free choice and participating in our evening programming. On Shabbat, campers will spend the day at camp with the rest of the camp community. Gear that will be provided includes scuba equipment rental (regulator, wetsuit, buoyancy compensator, tanks, weights, and gauges). For sanitation and safety reasons, each student will be outfitted by North County SCUBA with their own snorkeling package: mask, snorkel, fins, gloves and booties.  This is included in the price of the program and will go home with the camper at the end of the session.
