The Academy is located on the edge of Carlsbad Village. Carlsbad, known for being a beach town, is in North County San Diego. From many vantage points, the Pacific Ocean can be viewed and there is direct beach access from campus.

We know who we are and we have a strong vision for the future. By being in a location steps from the ocean, we get to lean into who we have always been and what we want to build for our future. 

Our campers have expressed wanting more than the typical camp activities of music, theater, archery, dance, video, art, sports. This move will allow us to build out an exciting program that brings back tennis (and pickleball) and includes surfing, bodyboarding, oceanography, aviation, floor hockey and sports conditioning. 

The campus facilities are fantastic, including 2 gyms, 2 weight rooms, pool, fields (including a state of the art football field), tennis courts, and of course, the beach (with a private access entry area for weekly barbecues and campfires). 

In addition to all the camp classics— arts & crafts, archery, swimming at the pool and Israeli dancing, at our new site, we will have the opportunity to offer activities directly on the beach! Surfing, bodyboarding, oceanography and more, as well as sports intensives, aviation and drones. These are just a few of the new programs you will be able to experience in the summer of 2024!

The academy is very comfortable with feeding large groups of children during one meal period (specifically teenage boys). With balanced options for breakfast, lunch and dinner your child will enjoy 2nds and even 3rds! Meals will be served “Kosher style” - there will be no pork or shellfish, nor milk and meat served together. We will continue to provide for various allergies and dietary restrictions.

Fabulous! Campers will live in dorm spaces called quads. Each quad (4 beds) has an interior door that opens into a common space that connects 4 rooms (each with four beds). Like a traditional cabin, the counseling staff will live with campers. We will likely have 3 campers in each individual room with one counselor in this room. Interior doors will remain open to the common room creating a "cabin" with a maximum of 13 campers and 3 counselors in each "cabin". Each room has ample storage space including cubbies, shelves and closet space to hang clothes. Plus, you have an ocean view when you walk out the front door! About half of our quads have a bathroom with a direct access door straight from the common space, while the other half have a larger bathroom shared between two quads.

With the layout of the quad, we have room for 8-13 campers in each cabin along with 2-3 counselors.

Our Jewish Community is at the core of our camp values. Since the fires in 2018 we have made sure that no matter where we are holding camp we are able to create an experience that helps campers grow, explore and try new things in a safe environment and through a Jewish lens. This new location will still have the camp feel deeply tied to our roots in Malibu with the ocean breeze, creative wacky activities, and the amazing staff that we hire to care for campers.

Our buses will depart from Wilshire Boulevard Temple in Los Angeles, and we will have drop off directly on site at the Academy.

All Dates/Rates for 2024 will stay the same as previously posted.

Army and Navy Academy does rent other spaces on site to other rental groups but we will continue to run our program without interacting with other groups, and most often, we will be the only group on site (and the largest). Any other group will be vetted by the army and navy team including safety and background checks, just like us. We will have our own meal times, we will be the only group in a programming space and we will have exclusive use of our dorm buildings and other rooms while your camper is on site.

Campus has a gated fence around the entire perimeter of the main campus. Access is limited through the main gate or by key-card access. In addition to the Army and Navy Academy 24/7 security team, surveillance systems, and effective policies and emergency procedures, we will also have our own Wilshire Boulevard Temple Security team on site 24/7 patrolling our camper spaces.
